Whittier Glacier and World War II History Tour

experience

We will enjoy the scenic drive from Anchorage to Whittier along the Seward Highway to start our day. Keep your eye peeled as there will be chances to see Dall sheep, moose, and bear along the drive. Our mid way stop will be in Girdwood at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Here we will see and learn about all wildlife we may have not seen on the drive. This includes sheep, moose, brown bear, black bear, caribou, and everything in between. We will drive through the longest tunnel in the USA on our way to Whittier, Once in Whittier you will board a catamaran and enjoy the 26 Glaciers Cruise. Prepare to be blown away with Alaskan beauty! After the cruise we will enjoy a deluxe fish and chips dinner in Whittier and then explore the World War II history of the local area, including the local museum . Here I will tell you the story of family that lived on Attu Island, Alaska when it was bombed and overtaken by the Japanese during World War II. My family connection brings this amazing part of Alaskan history to life each time and I know the historian in you will love. Our journey will conclude with the scenic return drive to Anchorage where I will deliver you safely to your accommodations by nightfall.
