Kilcher Homestead Historic Nature Hike
experience We will meet at our historic original sod roofed Kilcher Cabin where I and my 7 siblings grew up, and get a bit of history of our family’s legacy, as well as background info on the famous Discovery channel “Alaska: the Last Frontier“ TV reality show. Then we will hike to the beach, while I give you more history how my father and mother worked to create this beautiful 600 acre Homestead. You will learn about the wildlife and the vegetation, such as the edible and medicinal wild plants. We will stroll the beach, talking history of the glaciers and Kachemak Bay, and the settling of Homer area by pioneers. Depending on the weather, we will either have a picnic on the beach (bring your own food) or come back to my own house site to have your box lunch at my place. I will entertain you with stories and sing original music. Other things to note Call me for specific directions. 808-595-7300.
